The Cottage of Content in Carey is a warm cottage pub and country restaurant located within beautiful unspoilt countryside a short drive from Hereford and Ross-on-Wye. The Cottage's location attracts many walkers and ramblers, being so close to excellent country walks in the area.
Richard and Helen Moore the owners at The Cottage are keen to maintain the fine reputation this award winning venue has had for the last few years and have refurbished the pub inkeeping with their committment to quality. With 25 years Head Chef experience, Richard's new menu is already satisfying diners from near and far. We welcome all diners to take a look at our Sample menu . Families are always welcome to dine and children's menus are available. Originally The Cottage of Content was built in 1485 as three labourers cottages for the Mynor family. This was on the condition that one of the tenants kept an ale & cider parlour in one room, so the 'Cottage' has been a licensed house for quite some time. Today great food and good ales are served in a convivial and informal atmosphere, where all are encouraged to join the social aspects of pub life. The Cottage of Content offers overnight accommodation with 3 Double En-suite bedrooms and 2 Twin rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Carey itself is a small hamlet five hundred yards from the banks of the river Wye. Carey has maintained a very traditional feel where the hectic pace of modern life has passed it by. This allows guests the opportunity for relaxing country walks in a truly rural atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy day trips to other beauty spots within easy reach of the Cottage.
This beautiful part of Herefordshire has been described as one of the few remaining unspoilt beautiful areas of Britain making it perfect for that weekend get away. WE ONLY TAKE RESERVATIONS BY PHONE01432 840242
